The keyboard wall and all perforated walls were custom-made. Behind them, perforated walls have a calculated ratio of absorptive materials.

Supercool synth collection

XLR and headphone jacks are built directly into the perforated acoustic walls. The labels were laser printed into the wood.

We extended the window sill to allow for a large bass trap across the front wall.

Story
Bny's studio project showcases a harmonious blend of form and functionality, resulting in a high-performance creative space for music production. The main room features a clean, brutalist-inspired design with light-grained woods and grey elements in fabric, metal, and concrete. The bespoke perforated wood paneling, hidden door, large round studio glass, and round ceiling clouds with integrated lighting contribute to the room's unique ambiance.
A standout feature is the built-in synth wall, meticulously designed to Bny's specifications. It incorporates wood and metal with adjustable shelving for height and angles, seamlessly accommodating several keyboards along with Bny's road rack and computer. The exceptional build quality throughout the facility is a testament to the craftsmanship of Arturo Mora and his team.
The studio's acoustic performance was carefully engineered by our master acoustician, Carl Yanchar. He calculated the optimal room dimensions, layout, and building materials, including the precise size and spacing for the panel perforations and the required bass trapping. Behind each perforated panel, a carefully balanced combination of absorbent and reflective materials ensures premium audio resolution.
The studio's workflow is centered around an Antelope Orion 32 gen4 interface, paired with a Ferrofish A32 for expanded I/O capabilities. This setup provides 64 channels of I/O, allowing all synth and mic/line channels to be instantly accessible. The Antelope interface offers superior sound quality and complex routing options through its software, enabling a workflow tailored precisely to Bny's creative process.
Additional features include a rack-mounted patch panel for analog patching and future-proofed ethernet connectivity. The headphone distribution system, powered by the Antelope's outputs and a dedicated amplifier, delivers high-headroom signals throughout the facility, ensuring optimal monitoring capabilities in all areas of the studio.
Bny's studio is a stunning fusion of innovative design and cutting-edge technology, customized to meet the demands of modern music production. Every element, from the acoustically optimized layout to the meticulously crafted synth wall, reflects an unwavering commitment to excellence and creativity. With its thoughtful integration of aesthetics and functionality, this studio enhances the artistic process and stands as a testament to the collaborative vision of Bny, Rich Avrach, and the Sunset Audio team. This space is poised to inspire and facilitate the creation of hit songs for years to come.
